NEW YORK, Oct. 29, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Today, Megan Driscoll, Founder and CEO of EvolveMKD, a public relations agency focused on beauty, health and wellness brands, presented a $20,000 check to Michele, a mother of two, and victim of domestic violence who appeared on the March 10, 2015 episode of The Doctors appealing for surgery to repair the damage her boyfriend caused when he bit her nose off.
On the segment of The Doctors that aired today, Michele revealed her new face for the first time. Dr. Andrew Ordon, plastic surgeon and co-host of The Doctors, along with his partner, Dr. Ritu Chopra, performed three, complex pro-bono surgeries to rebuild her nose and face. Due to this tragedy, Michele has been unable to work and was facing eviction. The donation from EvolveMKD, paired with her surgical reconstruction, helped get Michele back on her feet and move on with her life.
“At EvolveMKD, many of our clients are in the area of aesthetic medicine and it is so rare that that side of medicine receives the credit it deserves for helping women have a second chance at life, whether it be reconstructive surgery after illness or violence,” said Megan Driscoll. “We believe our work is not about looking beautiful, but about about supporting, empowering and honoring women to continue to be strong and brave in every aspect of their life. Michele’s strength and courage inspired our team, and we are thrilled to play a small role in her journey to recover.”
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Domestic violence impacts women, men, and children of every age, background, and belief. Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the United States have suffered severe physical violence by an intimate partner. Today EvolveMKD team members are wearing purple, the color of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, to support Michele and all of the people who have been impacted by domestic violence.
