I grew up in a color war.
Comments from my mother like, “How about a little blush?” or “Just try a little Clinique Dubonnet on your lips” were the norm. My high school roommate urged me daily to try her Hard Candy gloss or Estee Lauder compact. In college, the pressure to visit the MAC counter was real. And despite working in the beauty industry for almost 20 years, my response was and has always been to always dab a little Aquaphor on my lips, smile and move on with the day.
